Jah Amen started learning the art of African drumming at the age of 9, and has taught drumming to Youth Audience Programs in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and California. Jah Amen was a student of Babatunde Olatunji, and was a featured performer at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

Brazilian Rhythms & Drums with Carlinhos Pandeiro de Ouro

Learn Brazilian rhythms straight from the source! Carlinhos Pandeiro de Ouro will take you on a musical journey you will not soon forget. He has been a lead musician for over 50 years with Mangueira, one of Rio's top ten ranking Samba Schools. Carlinhos is a true master pandeiro player. He will get you playing rhythms on the pandeiro, caixa, repinique, surdo, and agogo. First half of class focuses on pandeiro, second half on all other bateria drums, taught ensemble style. Improve your hand and stick techniques and get in the swing of classic Rio-style bateria grooves. Beginners welcome. Drums provided.
