ITINERARY
DAY ONE - 5 May 2008 (MONDAY)
- Travel Day (Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta)
KLM Airlines, direct flight from Los Angeles to Amsterdam. Fly Amsterdam Non-Stop to Accra, Ghana. (TBD Times)
DAY 2 - 6 May 2008 - (TUESDAY) -
ACCRA - ARRIVAL.
On arrival in Accra you will be met by Expertravel Tour Guide and Driver, assisted and transferred to hotel. Overnight in Accra.
DAY 3 - 7 May 2008 (WEDNESDAY) -
ACCRA CITY TOUR.
This day presents the opportunity for us to tour the Capital City of Ghana. We will visit the National Museum, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, W.E.B Dubois Centre. Overnight in Accra.
DAY 4 - 8 May 2008 (THURSDAY)
- ACCRA > KETA -
After breakfast we will depart our hotel for Keta in the Volta Region where on arrival we will visit schools, Government Agencies and also meet the local community.
We will check into our hotel after these visits. Overnight in Keta .
DAY 5 - 9 May 2008 (FRIDAY)
- KETA -
Good Friday Festivals. Overnight in Keta .
DAY 6 - 10 May 2008 (SATURDAY)
- KETA -
This day is dedicated for the Atiavi Enstoolment Ceremony. Overnight in Keta.
DAY 7 - 11 May 2008 (SUNDAY)
- KETA > ACCRA -
Depart Keta for Accra after breakfast. The rest of the day will be at your leisure. Overnight in Accra .
DAY 8 - 12 May 2008 (MONDAY)
- ACCRA | AKOSOMBO | ACCRA -
We will depart Accra after breakfast for Akosombo, in the Eastern Region of Ghana. We will visit the Akosombo Dam and interact with the people of Akosombo.
Return to Accra after this and have the rest of the evening at leisure. Overnight in Accra.
DAY 9 - 13 May 2008 (TUESDAY)
- ACCRA | ABURI | ACCRA -
Today's tour will take us to Aburi Botanical Garden as well as Boti falls (seasonal falls). It has an additional attraction known as the Umbrella Rock.
Return to Accra after visiting these remarkable landmarks. Overnight in Accra.
DAY 10 - 14 May 2008 (WEDNESDAY)
- ACCRA -
Depart hotel after breakfast to the University of Ghana, Legon.
We will also visit the Art Centre and Makola Market where we shall experience a typical African Market atmosphere. Overnight in Accra.

DAY 11 - 15 May 2008 (THURSDAY)
- ACCRA > ELMINA -
Depart Accra for Elmina in the central region of Ghana. On arrival at Elmina we will visit the Cape Coast Castle for a guided tour. This castle was built by the British where they kept their captives during the unfortunate Trans Atlantic Slave trade.
We will drive to Elmina after the tour and have lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch we will have another guided tour of the Elmina Castle which was built by the Portuguese in 1482. These two castles (Elmina and Cape Coast) have been designated by UNESCO as world heritage sites. Elmina Castle is currently over 520 years. Return to hotel. Overnight in Elmina.
DAY 12 - 16 May 2008 (FRIDAY)
- ELMINA > KAKUM > ELMINA -
This day we will take an early tour of the Kakum National Park where we will have the opportunity to experience a walk on the Canopy walkway, the only one of its kind in Africa. After this tour we will visit the Posuban Shrine at Mankessim. Return to Elmina for our overnight stay in Elmina .
DAY 13 - 17 May 2008 (SATURDAY)
- ELMINA > KUMASI -
Depart Elmina after breakfast for Kumasi in the Ashanti region. Enroute we will stop and visit Yaa Asantewaa village. Yaa Asantewaa was an extrordinarly strong and brave female army general who in 1901 led the Ashanti’s to war against the British.
We will then continue to Kumasi where on arrival we will have lunch after which we shall have a city tour of Kumasi Township. Check into our hotel to overnight in Kumasi.
DAY 14 - 18 May 2008 (SUNDAY)
- ELMINA > KUMASI > ACCRA -
After breakfast we will drive to Manhyia Palace where we will see replica of old kings and stools of the Ashanti’s. We will also visit Prempeh II Museum, Okomfo Anokye sword site where a legendry sword is said to have been driven into the ground by this powerful priest many years ago. Okomfo Anokye is said to be the founder of the Ashanti kingdom or Empire. Our last place of visit for this day’s tour will be to the Centre for National Culture.
Return to Accra after visiting these interesting landmarks. Overnight in Accra.
DAY 15 - 19 May 2008 (MONDAY)
- ACCRA -
You will be transfered to the airport by the Expertravel Tour Guide and Driver to await your flight back home..
